Saioa graduated in Biology and has a PhD in Environmental Agro-biology from the University of the Basque Country – Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV-EHU). With over 9 years’ experience in areas related to Food Industry sustainability, Saioa currently works as a researcher at the Sustainability and Efficiency Division of the AZTI-Tecnalia Food Research Unit, with a focus on improving the social and environmental sustainability of the whole food chain by means of Ecodesign and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of food products and/or processes. The majority of the research is part of European-funded (LIFE, H2020, etc.) and national projects, along with direct studies for companies.
