Born in Bilbao in 1962.
Guillermo studied Electrical Engineering at the Bilbao School of Engineering, where he was also awarded a PhD in Electric Power Systems.
After a two-year period as an Associate Lecturer at that same School of Engineering, he joined ORMAZABAL in 1988, where he has built his professional career.
Guillermo has worked on the following, among many other, tasks: designing the transformation centres and medium voltage switchgear, managing the High Voltage laboratory and prototype workshop, setting up the R&D quality system, implementing the prefabricated transformation centre factory, defining and deploying the strategy for the development of the international business of the company, marketing and commercial management of the international operations, managing the corporate strategy, brand manager, etc.
For some years now, Guillermo as deputy chair has put into practice his experience in the field of electricity distribution (from demand to consumption and from design to commercial management), where he advises the Chair of the Group on different strategic issues for the development of its companies.
He is the Chair of the Spanish Association of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers (AFBEL) and Vice-President and member of the Executive Committee of its European counterpart (T&D EUROPE). Furthermore, he is Vice-President of ALIANZA INERCIA, a conglomerate of Spanish sectoral organisations dedicated to promoting concepts related to Smart Cities.
